Jeannete C. Lewis

Jeannete C. Lewis is a partner of The Haggard Law Firm, P.A. since 2001. Ms. Lewis' practice is focused on plaintiff's personal injury, premises liability, aviation and product liability matters. She has been lead counsel for numerous matters in state and federal courts involving death and personal injuries sustained domestically and internationally, including in international waters. She has tried and settled premises liability / negligent security cases against foreign hotels, as well as cases arising from crashes of commercial, general aviation and military aircraft, including crashes of a Hughes 369A (formerly military) helicopter operated by the Lee County Sheriff's Department, an MD500 helicopter operated as “Sky 6 for the local NBC Station in Miami.
Ms. Lewis received her undergraduate degree, cum laude, from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1990 and obtained her law degree, with honors in 1993 from St. Thomas University School of Law where she was an associate editor of the St. Thomas Law Review. Since 1993 she has been engaged continuously in plaintiffs' personal injury practice in South Florida with an emphasis on domestic and foreign resort torts, air traffic control negligence and products liability and litigation.
Ms. Lewis is published in the ABA Section of Litigation Aviation Litigation Quarterly on the subject of the Government Contractor Defense and has co-authored two chapters for Lee S. Kreindler's aviation treatise, Aviation Accident Law on the subjects of handling suits involving military aviation accidents and air traffic controller negligence. She has been a speaker for the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers and the Southern Methodist University Annual Air Law Symposium on jurisdictional and forum non conveniens issues in the personal injury setting. She was invited by and did address the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association specifically on how to litigate premises liability cases across state lines and internationally.
Professionally, Ms. Lewis has an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell and maintains memberships with the Florida Justice Association, the Dade County Justice Association of which she served on its board of directors for over four years, the American Association for Justice, the Dade County Bar, and the ABA's Section of Litigation of which she is a past co-chair of the Aviation Section.
Ms. Lewis is admitted to practice by The Florida Bar, the United States District Court for the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
